1. Purpose of the Position

This position is a is a consultant position responsible for technical preparations of the training, produce and organize environmental governance training materials in good quality, responsible for technical review and enhancement of the environmental sustainability training modules based on inputs from UNDP and ministry of environment for Galmudug State of Somalia, prepare presentations and agenda defining objectives and expected out puts, prepare workshop report and capturing both the substance and the results.

1. Role and Responsibility of the Local Consultant

• Responsible for the technical preparations of the training.
• Train environmental workers on environmental governance.
• Produce and organize environmental governance training materials in good quality.
• finalize the specific Ministry’s environmental governance training
• Help training participants identify priorities on environmental sustainability based on inputs and comments received from the participants during the training workshop and inputs from relevant local institutions.
• Responsible for technical review and enhancement of the environmental sustainability training modules based on inputs from UNDP and ministry of environment of Galmudug State of Somalia.
• Train other relevant institutions at the local level environmental sustainability.
• Prepare priority actions to promote environmental sustainability.
• Prepare training reports including gender disaggregated participants’ list, pictures and training evaluation by the participants
• Responsible for the technical preparations of the workshop.
• Organize and facilitate the consultations involving local institutions related to environmental SDGs and prepare workshop materials.
• Prepare presentations and agenda defining objectives and expected out puts
• Prepare workshop report and capturing both the substance and the results
• Share the training material and consult with the Ministry.
• Conduct training on environmental monitoring, compliance and enforcement at the local level.
• Engage and guide the Ministry staffs to prepare the roles and responsibilities of the MEA focal points.
• Preparing work plans outlining roles and actions in various phases of environmental management.
• Prepare and submit technical reports.

Selection Shall be based on qualification and experience of the candidate and followed by an interview, the minimum qualification, experience should be including:

University Degree from accredited university in environmental management, environmental sustainability, environmental science.

Sound for environmental Management skill - essential

Sound leadership and organizational development skills - essential  

Computer literacy skills-essential

1. Required Experience

The position requires at least 8 years’ experience obtained by working in the area of environment for public sectors or international NGOs.
