Founded in June 1993 and registered with Federal Government of Somalia, WARDI’s mission is to provide dignified support to people affected by crises to enable them lead a dignified and prosperous life. WARDI has offices in Mogadishu, Beletweyne and Buloburte in South Central as well a liaison office in Nairobi. WARDI specializes in responding to humanitarian emergencies, bridging the gap between crisis and resilience as well as long-term developmental projects with track record in implementing high quality health and nutrition, Food Security and Livelihood, Education, protection and WASH interventions. Our programming has the distinct attributes of applying bottom up approach that puts the communities, local authorities and governments (National and Federal states) we work with at the center of our programmes. The Community WASH promotion will oversee the implementation of food security project implemented by WARDI with funding support from Caritas Germany in Afgoye and Mataban districts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The specific tasks include:

❖ Help plan and carry out needs assessments, baseline data collection and feedback findings to beneficiary communities,

❖ Record data on routine activities and WASH conditions and forward it to Supervisor

❖ Liaise with community leaders and other sectors and agencies working locally in order to coordinate within the WASH sector and between sectors such as health and shelter

❖ Help identify key hygiene practices to be addressed and carry out appropriate activities to promote safe practices. Such activities may include:

❖Communication activities such as community meetings, drama, information campaigns, use of educational materials etc.;

❖Support to water-point committees and hygiene committees,

❖ Mobilize beneficiaries as appropriate and act as the link between the WASH project team and the affected population at community level.

❖ Carry out Hygiene Promotion activities in line with relevant standards, codes of conduct, and humanitarian principles.

❖ Dissemination of COVID-19 hygiene promotion approved messages.

❖ Encourage the participation of community members throughout the program.

❖ Motivate families to improve their hygiene conditions in their respective site.

❖ Help identify needs for non-food items relevant to hygiene, participate in the identification/distribution of items, targeting strategy, promotion of effective use, and post-distribution monitoring.

❖ Participate in the organization and the distribution of kits.

❖ Conduct additional tasks that may be assigned by WASH officer

Education, experience & technical competencies

  • University degree (Public health , a equivalent in relevant field)
  • Familiarity with various assessment and evaluation methods.
  • At least 2 years of experience in community based activities.
  • Ability to work in a team and good interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced computer applications skills.
  • Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to work under time pressure and meet deadlines.
